The Second coming of Christ: The Sound of the Trumpet
The next thing on the Lord’s agenda: THE TRUMPET SHALL SOUND AND THE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE INCORRUPTIBLE AND WE SHALL BE CHANGED- 1Cor. 15:52. We get a word picture of this event from the trumpet signalling Israel as they moved across the desert from slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land many years ago .Num.10:1-6.
There was no notice beforehand as to when the trumpet was sounded by the priests. The nation under Moses stayed put until the Cloud which led them moved. The Cloud was a Divine representation. Then the trumpet sounded and Israel followed the Cloud. We do not know when the Lord will return for us. It could happen now even before you finish reading this sentence. It could have happened any time after the Lords’ ascension into heaven; although there are signs of the times given in the Bible before His return to earth with His people there are no signs given for when He previously comes for His people. We will look at some of these signs of the times later. Charts and outlines are sometimes confusing, giving the impression that the prophesied seven years of tribulation are immediately after His return to earth for us. It could happen that way, but not necessarily. In any event, when the salt and the light (believers) are taken up with Him and out of this earth, their Godly influence gone, what a rotten, stinking, murderous society will be left.
Our gathering to Christ ( in theology called the parousia, Greek for gathering ) is for all believers who have been saved by faith in His blood and delivered from Satan’s slavery as all Israel, journeying to the land of promise, was delivered from Egypt’s Pharaoh by the blood of Passover on the posts of their dwellings. There was movement by rank when the Trumpet sounded for Israel to assemble and the camps to move. And when Jesus comes to call us out of the presence of sin it will be every one in his own order and in the twinkling of an eye. When the Trumpet sounds, two in a bed; one taken , one left. Two grinding at the mill; one taken, one left. Jesus says, “Watch”. As the early churches said, “Even so, come Lord Jesus”.
