There is a spectacular day ahead. It is called the”day of Christ.” At that day, fellow believer, it can be said of you as the Angels said to the women who came to anoint the body of Christ, “He is not here, He is risen”. At that day the same Spirit that convicted you of sin, converted you to Christ, sanctified you to His service, and dwells within you as His temple will bring you forth with a new body fashioned as His glorious body, and “the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts” (1 Pet. 1:19). See 1Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 1:14, Phil. 1:6-10, 2:16. This is the day of our gathering unto Him.
Following, we don”t know for how long, comes another day called the “day of Jehovah” also the “day of the Lord”. See Isa. 2:12, 2Thess. 2:9-12. Christians who are the salt of the earth and the light to mankind will be gone so there is no moral guidance; nothing to hold back the rot of society. War, famine, disease, and death such as never before known will prevail. Jesus said, “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect”s sake those days shall be shortened” (Matt. 24:21-22). “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and the shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” ( Matt.24:30)
But NOW we have another day. It is called the day of grace. It breaks in upon all who will receive it in otherwise a night time of spiritual darkness. It is the day star, the blessed hope of His coming. It promises our gathering unto Him in salvation before the awful day of God’s wrath and judgement (the day of Jehovah) breaks upon the earth. Now, knowing that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that He was buried and that He rose again from the dead the third day according to the Scriptures (1Cor. 15:3-4), we have taken Him, beyond a doctrine and historical fact, as a living truth and believe this promise as to OUR SINS. And consequently, “He saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation” ( 2 Cor.6:2).
