God’s Temple

Some of the most beautiful buildings in the world are its temples and cathedrals. But none of them can begin to come up to the human body, which is created to be God’s temple; believer, “your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God” (1Cor.6:19).

An awesome truth! This enables you and me to have direct and immediate communication with the Lord Jesus Christ; to have direction from Him; to have protection from Him; and to know and worship Him.

This is also an awesome responsibility. The Scripture says in 1Cor.3:17, “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” Paul warned the believers at Corinth who were sinning,”For this cause many are weak and sickly among you and many sleep “(1Cor.11:30). We need to keep our thoughts and inner selves clean. We need to confess each day our sins as the Lord taught us in what is called the Lord’s prayer, “give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses”. We have the promise of forgiveness and cleansing-not on the Lord’s day before some sinful human priest, but daily before our own priest- from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. We can rest on this promise, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1John 1:9).
