Although light be everywhere, the blind person does not benefit from it.The light of the Gospel, (Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose the third day according the scriptures) has gone out in the English speaking world as the sun shining on a clear day, but the spiritually blind still grope in the darkness of unbelief. The tragedy is that unbelief is intentional. As to following Christ, “They all with one consent began to make excuse”(Luke 14:18).
Some will not repent toward God, fearing the journey before them. Others will not start the journey of faith, hanging on to some false sense of security like a monkey caught in a trap. The monkey trap is a secured gourd with a hole large enough for the monkey to pull its hand out if empty but not if it holds on to the fruit placed as bait at the bottom of the gourd. The monkey holds on to the fruit rather than letting go to be free. It complains loudly but its sense of priority is not good. Sadly, there are people, some we know, who have never started the journey of faith because of hanging on to some such bait placed by Satan. Let us pray that God will open their eyes and grant them repentance.
