WAR IN THE HEAVENS
Jesus defeated Satan (the Devil) once for all , dying on the cross and the third day rising from the dead. But Satan would bluff his way out of it and deny us the fruit of victory in our daily lives if he can. History gives an example. On October 17, 1781, Great Britain under Gen. Cornwallis surrendered to Gen. Washington securing the independence of our nation, The United States. On the high seas and in the harbors Great Britain refused to accept their defeat until the War of 1812 sealed it. Our national anthem was written by a lawyer Francis Scott Key while on a ship at harbor in Maryland, September 14, 1814, during battle. So in heaven and earth death is being suffered until the time Christ claims His victory and Satan and death is put in the Pit forever. “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” See I Cor. 15. WE BELIEVERS CAN CLAIM THIS VICTORY NOW OVER TEMPTATION IN OUR DAILY LIVES by His Spirit that is in our bodies.
The ground for His and our victory is the blood of Christ shed on the cross. Here is how. We know from modern science, but better yet from the Scriptures that “the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Lev. 17:11). When Jesus gave His blood He gave His life unto death. Death from One who did not need or have to die- death of the eternal Son of God. So, death has no more power over Him , His creation and His people. He, being alive gives assurance and one day the whole creation shall demonstrate it.
